Join us for the Blade’s third Birthday Bash and celebrate three years of journalism, sharp perspectives and fighting for the city we love

On June 13, the Blade‘s third anniversary rolled around. While it was perhaps appropriate that I was covering an Asheville City Council meeting that night, it also meant that we’re remiss in one of the things I look forward to most all year: getting to celebrate with our awesome readers.

After all, the Blade is reader-supported. The fact y’all are willing to support local journalism, in-depth analysis and sharp perspectives directly with your hard-earned cash is the reason we exist and thrive.

So join us at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, July 19 at the Crow and Quill for cake, drinks and general celebration. We’ll even have special Blade stickers to mark the occasion. Let us thank you for your support and for helping us to stay in the fray for three amazing years, with many more to come.

Subscribers will get in free, $5 for all others.

Also, yes, we will have the return of our Jars of Journalism raffle. This time, we’ve got two lovely prizes:

• A $50 bar tab at the Crow and Quill

• A $35 gift certificate to Firestorm, a wonderful radical bookstore, coffee shop and community space.

If you subscribe on Patreon before the party, you get a ticket. If it’s over $10, you get three. If you’re a current Patreon subscriber you get a ticket as our way of saying thank you. If you increase your subscription by any amount, we’ll add another ticket. If you double your subscription, we’ll add two more.

Alternatively, if you give a one-time donation of $5 or more here, you get a ticket. If it’s $10 or more, two. And if you donate more than $20, we’ll make it three. Just shoot us an email and let us know what prize you’d like.

Look forward to seeing you all there, and thank you for your support.

The Asheville Blade is entirely funded by its readers. If you like what we do, donate directly to us on Patreon or make a one-time gift to support our work. Questions? Comments? Email us.
